Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. It is the West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large area that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island, although this isn't the truth. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. Her early ambition was to dance but a growth spurt meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. Once I was bigger than any male partner then I slowed down. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. As for Bruce, it was her drama instructor who pushed her to go in this direction. Her teacher advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. The teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the school's annual show. The show led her to receive the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work been featured on both the small and large screen. She gained the most recognition when she landed her role as Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
